Key passage for daily reading: Philippians 2:1-11
January 1, Tuesday
There’s no doubt about it, this month is about money. But first it’s about clarifying who is in charge. Read Philippians 2:1-11 and take note of what this passage is saying about who is in charge.
>Prayer for today: Jesus, as I take this journey, help me to be fully attentive to all you have to teach me. Amen.
January 2, Wednesday
Philippians 2:5 says, “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.” “This mind” refers back to Philippians 2:3-4 which says, “3 Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. 4 Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.” Why is humility important?
>Prayer for today: Jesus, please bless me with your mind, whatever that takes.
January 3, Thursday
Verses 5-11 describe the impact of Jesus’ humility, what it enables Him to do. While we aren’t called to be Savior (He already has that job down pat), we are called to a sacrificial life.
>Prayer for today: Jesus, I pray for a deeper faith to surrender to the sacrifice You have called me to.
January 4, Friday
Have you confessed that Jesus Christ is Lord? If not, what is stopping you? If so, what difference has it made?
>Prayer for today: Jesus, I don’t want to feel inadequate by calling you my Lord. Help me to be grateful for Your ability to lead my life!
January 5, Saturday
Each Sabbath this month, we’ll be singing this song together. It has a simple sousing message that is also life-changing when we embrace it. If you don’t know it, a quick Google search of the title will help It is sung by Hillsong.
This is My Desire
This is my desire
To honor You
Lord, with all my heart
I worship You
All I have within me
I give You praise
All that I adore
Is in You
Lord, I give You my heart
I give You my soul
I live for You alone
And every breath that I take
Every moment I'm awake
Lord, have Your way in me
